An apple He is reportedly in talks with Google to allow the iPhone maker to license and build its Gemini AI engine into the iPhone, according to a Bloomberg report.

Gemini is Google’s suite of generative AI tools that range from chatbots to coding assistants.

Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter, said the two tech giants are “in active talks” for Gemini to power some new features that are due to roll out in iPhone software later in the year.

Apple may release iOS 18 – its latest operating system for the iPhone – at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

Apple has also recently held discussions with OpenAI and is considering using its model, according to people cited by Bloomberg.

However, the report said “the two sides have not settled on the terms or branding of an AI agreement, nor have they finalized how it will be implemented.”

Apple and Google did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.
