Solana Labs, Google Cloud join forces to push Blockchain into mainstream game development

Recently, Google Cloud has taken multiple steps to establish itself as a pro-Web3 organization. Now Solana Labs has joined forces with Google Cloud. Through this partnership, the team behind the eco-friendly green blockchain will use the capabilities of Google Cloud to offer developers their own blockchain-based game development suit. With this, Solana Labs wants to bring blockchain technology to the forefront of game development.

Solana Labs created GameShift back in 2023. This architecture allows developers to create games on the blockchain instead of leaving them to handle the nitty-gritty. As part of its suit, GameShift allows developers to integrate non-custodial wallets along with fast and scalable tools for creating and distributing in-game assets. All these processes are supported by the Solana blockchain.

“Having GameShift become part of the Google Cloud partner ecosystem allows us to accelerate mass adoption by extending these capabilities to their vast global developer ecosystem,” wrote Davis Hart, Head of GameShift, in official statement.

Solana Labs first introduced GameShift in July 2023. Later in October, the blockchain firm released the beta version of this app. Another element that GameShift offers is an in-game NFT market. This expands the revenue stream for developers and publishers.

In addition, the game development infrastructure also includes credit card payments and bank payout services to the platform. It also offers fee payment management and transaction.

“Many game studios built on Google Cloud want to take advantage of the creative potential of Web3 technology, but the inherent technical complexities are a major obstacle to wider adoption,” said Jack Buzzer, director of games at Google Cloud. This Google Cloud partnership gives developers the tools to build immersive experiences without getting bogged down in the complexities of blockchain technology.

This marks the second Web3 partnership that Google Cloud has entered into this week. Google Cloud previously teamed up with a Tier 1 blockchain platform called Sui to integrate blockchain solutions with artificial intelligence (AI) and other technology initiatives.
