The PlayStation VR2 will get support for VR gaming on PC this year, Sony has announced. The company confirmed on Wednesday that it is testing the PS VR2’s ability to play PC VR games in addition to the already supported titles available through the PS5. PS VR2 launched in international markets in February 2023 and made its debut in India in December. Currently, the VR headset is only compatible with the PS5 and does not support PS VR content from the previous generation.

Sony has provided the PlayStation update blog, along with details on multiple PS VR2 titles coming to the platform. “We are pleased to share that we are currently testing the ability for PS VR2 players to access additional games on PC to offer an even greater variety of games in addition to the PS VR2 titles available through PS5,” said the the blog. “We hope to make this support available in 2024, so stay tuned for more updates,” he added.

There’s no specific release date yet for support for PC VR games, but when it does arrive, it should expand the PS VR2 game library, which remains limited at the moment. Other details surrounding PC support, such as compatibility, platforms and performance, have yet to be confirmed. For example, will PS VR2 users be able to access and download PC VR games through SteamVR compatibility? These details should become clearer in due course. PS VR2 launches on February 22, 2023 with over 40 titles available in the library. More games were added during the year, including Resident Evil 4 VR.

PlayStation also announced the release of a new PS VR2 title, The Wizards – Dark Times: Brotherhood, an action-adventure wizardry game that puts players in the shoes of a wizard and lets them cast spells with hand gestures. The VR game can be played solo in single-player mode or experienced in co-op play with up to three players. The game is now live on the PlayStation Store for PS VR2 users.

The blog revealed launch dates, DLC, new announcements for a host of other VR titles on the platform. Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate, an action VR time travel title from Mighty Eyes, has received a new gameplay trailer and release date. The game comes out on June 27th. Additionally, Little Cities Bigger, a city-building game from Purple Yonder, has been announced for PS VR2, due to arrive on March 12.

Zombie Army VR, the VR version of the popular Sniper Elite spinoff series Zombie Army, is also coming to PS VR2 this year. Meanwhile, Arizona Sunshine 2 has received new free updates that include an in-game Corgi companion and three new Horde mode maps. The Corgi companion is available now and can be added as a sidekick through the newly added cosmetics screen. The three new multiplayer maps will arrive one every month starting in March.

Finally, the blog revealed new screenshots and core mechanic details for Soul Covenant, the upcoming narrative action JRPG from Thirdverse. The VR title will launch sometime in 2024.

Sony’s VR updates follow the reveals of two VR titles, Metro Awakening and Legendary Tales, for the PS VR2 at the State of Play show last month. Metro Awakening is a story-driven first-person VR title in the Metro series that will be released for PS VR2 this year. Legendary Tales, on the other hand, is a VR action role-playing game from Urban Wolf Games that launched on February 8.
