New Xbox Game Pass arrivals in April give you Lego races, Lara Croft and Lil Gator. Subscribers can play similar to Mario Kart Lego 2K Drive starting Wednesday, the finale of the trilogy Shadow of the Tomb Raider on April 11 and the charming stop-motion adventure game Harold Halibut on April 16.

Lego 2K Drive, launched in May 2023, allows developer Vision Concepts (known for the NBA 2K and WWE 2K series) to take over Travellers’ Tales to create its first Lego game. We were quickly drawn to its adorable vehicle transformations and quirky fun in a game that draws equally from Mario Kart and Forza Horizon 5.

Our complaints (no quick way to restart races and a suspicious push towards microtransactions) will be easier to overcome when you can download it for free with your Game Pass subscription. Lego 2K Drive will be available to Game Pass members on April 3 for cloud and Xbox consoles.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition concludes the origin story of Lara Croft’s Survivor trilogy, which reboots the series as an Uncharted-style cinematic epic. Help Croft traverse jungles, caves and ruins (complete with tombs!) as he battles the mysterious and all-powerful organization Trinity and completes his transformation into the hero known and loved from previous iterations. You can play it on April 11 on cloud, Xbox consoles and PC.

Game frame Harold Halibut. The main character, disheveled in a dirty white shirt and trousers, stands in profile in a dirty and messy room in an underwater spaceship.

Slow Bros.

Harold Halibut is a quirky adventure game made in the vein of old-school Sierra or LucasArts games—with a unique visual flair. Harold works as a lab technician in a sunken spaceship, trapped underwater 250 years after his escape from doomed Earth. But the game’s stop-motion digital animation steals the show, aptly illustrating the story’s compelling dark sci-fi.

Developer Slow Bros. created hand-crafted characters, environments and objects that were digitally scanned and animated, resulting in a standout old-school motif. Harold Halibut will be available April 16 on Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.

The time-lapse action puzzler is also available for Game Pass members in April Superhot: Mind Control Delete (available Tuesday for cloud, console, and PC), an innocent open-world family adventure Lil Gator game (April 4: Cloud / Console / PC), EA Sports PGA Tour (April 4: Cloud / PC / Xbox Series X/S) and a surreal detective game Kona (April 9: Cloud / Console).

Leaving Xbox Game Pass this month is Amnesia Collection, Amnesia: Rebirth, Back 4 Blood, Phantom Abyss, Exploration and destruction and Soma. They are available until April 15.
