The battle between flagship processors from MediaTek and Qualcomm has never been as exciting as it is now. Overall, Qualcomm processors won with better stability and performance. However, some past versions of MediaTek have closed the gap that became quite evident with the latest AnTuTu performance list.

For those wondering, AnTuTu is a benchmarking tool that allows you to test your device’s performance. It runs the hardware through several tests and gives you an overall score. You can use this score to compare a smartphone with others. While the benchmark results aren’t everything, they are useful if you want to buy a phone that has the power you need.

Coming back to the AnTuTu performance list, it basically consists of the top 10 smartphones. Every month, AnTuTu shares one for flagship and one for mid-range. Again, these are based on benchmark results and do not directly depict real-world usage. But they act as a good starting point to find your next purchase.

However, last month chipsets from Dimensity reigned supreme in both the flagship and mid-range categories. The story is the same for this month’s AnTuTu performance list. But interestingly, there are no Xiaomi phones in the list of flagships. Generally, we have seen at least one in past reports shared by AnTuTu. But yes, one Xiaomi phone still tops the rest in the mid-range list.

A closer look at AnTuTu’s February 2024 performance leaderboard

Let’s start with the performance leaderboard from AnTuTu. Like last month, the top phone is the Oppo Find X7 with the Dimensity 9300 at the top of the list. This phone’s average score for February is 2195036. Second place goes to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 device, but it’s not the same from the last list. While the iQOO 12 Pro had a position last month, it’s the Asus ROG 8 Pro for February.

As for the score, the ROG 8 Pro got an average of 2157660 points. The iQOO 12 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 seems to have climbed up and secured the third position in the new list. It has an average score of 2120878, which is a big improvement from last month. You can check the results of the other phones from the attached image below.

What is surprising is that there are no Xiaomi phones in the flagship list. Usually, AnTuTu’s top performance list has at least one phone from the brand. However, it seems that February is not the month for Xiaomi. But on the other hand, we also don’t see the latest OnePlus 12 in the list. If you’re wondering why there aren’t any, it’s because those devices don’t have at least 1,000 valid current results for the month. AnTuTu does not take into account devices that do not meet this criterion.

About the mid-range list

The mid-range list has last month’s same Xiaomi Redmi K70E at the top. For February, it has an average score of 1405360. This is a Dimensity 8300 Ultra phone, which means that MediaTek once again tops the flagship and mid-range performance list.

As for the second place, it is the Realme GT Neo5 SE that secures the position. The phone had the same position in last month’s performance list by AnTuTu. For February, it has an average score of 1155230. In third place we have the Redmi Note 12 Turbo, which is again the same one that occupied the third position last month. It now has an average score of 1138654. You can know more about the phones that are in the mid-range list from the attached image below.

What other aspects should you consider besides AnTuTu performance benchmark results?

It is extremely important to remember that benchmark results are only one piece of the puzzle. When choosing a smartphone, several other factors deserve equal, if not greater, importance. Some of them are:

Camera quality and battery life

Look beyond the megapixel. Look at features like sensor size, aperture, and lens quality. Do you prioritize low light photos? Scalability? Research which phones excel in the areas you want. Also, evaluate the phone’s battery capacity and its ability to handle your usage patterns. These are two of the things that the AnTuTu performance list cannot shed light on.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra camera configuration

Display, build and software

A phone’s display is a key aspect that you can’t gauge from AnTuTu’s performance list. Here you need to look at panel quality, resolution, refresh rate and touch response. Also, consider the design and build quality. Make sure you get a phone that lasts.

Galaxy S24 cameras

Finally, consider the software. Check out the features specific to the operating system and any additional handy software offered by the manufacturer. And make sure the phone supports software updates. Even the device with the highest score on the AnTuTu performance list is not worth it if it comes with very outdated software with no scheduled maintenance.
