Black Adam landed in theaters last weekendbringing The violent anti-hero of DC Comics on the silver screen for the first time in live action. with Dwayne Johnson in the main role, Adam beats both hero and villain after being released from 5000 years of imprisonment, from the early scenes to the credits (the post-credits scene is relatively cold).

“The arrival of megastar Dwayne Johnson in the DC universe, plus the long wait for the film’s arrival, made Black Adam feel like an event,” CNET’s Richard Trenholm said in his review. “Now it’s here and it doesn’t feel as important. Still, it’s a great time at the movies, and what more could you want from The Rock?’

Much of it Shazam The spinoff’s conflict is caused by friction between Adam and the Justice Society of America, which includes Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell).

However, there is another hero waiting on the doorstep. Someone who only appears when Black Adam’s first adventure ends. Let Shazam make his way into the land of SPOILERS and talk about the post-credits scene.

The Man of Steel is back

With the demonic champion Sabbac torn in two and Black Adam firmly established as Kahndaq’s champion, Task Force X chief Amanda Waller (played by Viola Davisand last seen in HBO Max series A peacemaker) sends a drone over to the temple where Adam is hanging out so she can have a friendly Zoom with the anti-hero.

Unfortunately, Waller can’t be friendly and is furious that Adam managed to escape from captivity at her base. She warns him to stay in Kahndaq or she will send extremely powerful people who owe her favors to stop him.

Adam actually tells her to do it, so a flying creature lands dramatically and a familiar cape-clad silhouette appears from the smoke.

Oh Jeeps Guys It’s Only Superman (Henry Cavill).

“It’s been a while since anyone made the world this nervous,” says the Kryptonian hero. “Black Adam, we need to talk.”

What does it mean?

We’ll get more of Cavill’s version of Superman, and he’ll almost certainly be fighting Black Adam. The scene ends with Superman’s invitation to chat, but Adam’s short fuse means they’re almost certainly going to get into a big fight with heaps of material damage and ambiguous loss of life.

Johnson has ideas for how would the battle gohe told YouTuber Jake’s Takes in an interview ahead of the film’s release.

“I think Black Adam strikes first. Now, I don’t know if Black Adam strikes the final blow,” he said. “I can see things so clearly… what this scene looks like, what this movie looks like, what the next three movies look like. Now, whether it comes to fruition or not, it always helps when you have that kind of clarity.”

Cavill Supes debuted in 2013’s Man of Steel and was last seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League (aka the Snyder cut) in 2021 and the ending of this movie left us inside a great dark future where he has been corrupted.

The director said this is not canonbut both Snyder’s version of the film and Joss Whedon’s 2017 version see an uncorrupted, modern-day Superman joining Batman and Wonder Woman as they prepare to form the Justice League.

Superman is among the most powerful beings in this universe.

The team also appeared in the finale of HBO’s Peacemaker earlier this year, but Superman was overshadowed in that appearance (he was played by Brad Abramenko). The character made a similar appearance in 2019’s Shazam, where he was only seen from the neck down (and portrayed by Ryan Handley).

So Superman was never too far from our screens, but there was doubt that Cavill will return to the roleand it was reported that studio Warner Bros. wants to cast a black actor for the rolebut the character is iconic and archetypal enough for multiple versions to exist (and possibly come together in a multiversal crossover like Spider-Man: No Way Home).

Recent management changes added fuel to the idea that the studio can pass by Cavill, although the actor’s popularity made this unlikely. There is no official word that he will be making another solo Superman film, but The Hollywood Reporter noted that Warner Bros. determined to give Cavill another outing and is currently looking for writers.

Speaking to MTV on October 26, Cavill hinted at future appearances lean into the character’s inherent optimism.

“There’s such a bright future ahead for the character and I’m so excited to tell a story with an extremely joyful Superman,” he said.

After the film’s release, parent company Warner Bros. Discovery has hired James Gunn (responsible for The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker) and producer Peter Safran will led the reorganized DC Studios. It’s unclear how this will change her plans for Superman.

It’s always fun with Black Adam and Superman, there are a few fights.

DC Comics

What can comics tell us?

The long history of Black Adam comics is complicated because of DC multiple continuity rebootstarting out as a villain back in 1945. He’s become more nuanced in the decades since, transitioning to a dark anti-hero who often enters into uneasy alliances with the heroes (mostly because he’s cruel, unpredictable, and kind of a jerk).

This could happen in the next film as well – Adam and Superman will have an epic battle before reaching some kind of truce. Despite his physical prowess, Superman is traditional vulnerable to magicwhich means Adam will have the upper hand.

Hopefully Shazam will be involved as well since he and Superman are friends and Shazam’s powers come from the same source as Adam’s. We can get a hint of that Shazam: Wrath of the Godswhich is slated to hit theaters on March 17, 2023.
